Eg: Adverb clause
- If I don’t eat breakfast, I get hungry.
- You’ll get wet unless you take your umbrella.
- I always eat breakfast. Otherwise, I get hungry during class.
- You’d better hurry, or (else) you’ll be late.

Using OTHERWISE and Or (else)
1. If I don’t call my mother, she will start worrying about me.
-> I am going to/ should/ had better/have to/must call my mother. Otherwise, she’ll start worrying about me.
2. If tou don’t leave now, you’ll be late for class.

Implied Conditions (Câu điều kiện ám chỉ)
Eg1: I would have gone with you, but I had to study.
Would have gone là vế hai của câu điều kiện loại 3, hàm ý điều không có thật trong quá khứ, nên câu trên ý nói “Lẽ ra tôi đã đi với bạn” nhưng thực ra đã không đi vì lúc đó “Tôi phải học”.
Eg2: I never would have succeeded without your help. (If you hadn’t helped me...)
Eg3: She ran; otherwise, she would have missed her bus. (If she hadn’t run.......)
